Yet Another Option

Yet Another Option  Flexitarians, as defined by Merriam-Webster,  normally follow a meatless diet but occasionally include meat or fish.

According to Merriam-Webster, the word had its first known use in 1998.  It was a new one to me but articles may actually have relevance beyond its intended audience.   I mean food wasn't even a part of my thinking as my pondered about things began.

Isn't there evidence that life is much more than strictly following one way of thinking?  Flexibility in all aspects is definitely an option.  This particular way or that way?  And only those two options.

We can likely cite some real life examples where we can see evidence that there is some gray and not just black or white.  "It Depends" may seem as an "easy way out" to some but there's something that can be gleaned through a thoughtful and thought-provoking response.

Flexibility of all kinds can have many benefits.  At least that's my thought.  Right now and for this moment.  And I believe the idea goes far beyond that or any word even as we step away from the dining room table.   Yes, I believe there is flexibility that is useful at times and now I know about "flexitarian".  Hmm, will it become a part of my everyday vocabulary?  I don't think so but I can be flexible.

Michael, had never heard this word before either, but we do have to be flexible in life in general.

Hmm, what am I Barbara Todaro?  I eat meat, but I try to not have sugar or grains.  When I say that to people, they say oh you are keto, haha.  I haven't studied what keto teaches, as I attend the Todaro school for healthy eating.

Having been a vegan for several years, I had not heard this term. It really describes my current diet pretty well. I've been saying "mostly plant based", which is easier for people to understand.

Well done, well said - life is too much black and white - that seems to me to be the easy way of looking at the world. You are either with me or against me - for the things I stand for or not - life is really shades of grey and if we were all a little bit more flexible, think how much better we would get along - great word to add to my vocabulary

I can just see using that in Scrabble, awesome. I have always heard people say a little bit of everything and not too much of anything is good for you.

Lise Howe - so much of life cannot be divided into just black or just white, flexibility occurs in how we look at situations.  Flexitarian definitely conjures some images beyond food choices.

Patricia Feager, MBA, CRS, GRI,MRP - and I'll add "genuine" matters as well.

Nick Vandekar, 610-203-4543 - I didn't add up the Scrabble score potential....a good idea!

Krystin Mitchell, CPA CFE - well, ActiveRain is the place where we "learn new things each day.

Well, you never know if your word will make it into the dictionary - never say never, Michael! Seems they've been adding some words that we would formerly call, slang, to the dictionary to appeal to all age groups - like 'dad joke.'

I'm a big believer in being true to not only everyone in our lives but, to ourselves. That would include eating in moderation. That allows us flexibility during the holidays or special celebrations.

I am all in favor of eating "real food". Interesting, I would say I am a  Flexitarian as defined by Merriam-Webster. I normally follow a meatless diet but occasionally include meat.

Never heard of this one but recently meat has been green-lighted.  Eggs were verboten for several years, now ok.   Flexibility is good.  Even having an oyster now and then is grand!!
