A day trip to The City - how fast things can change!

I was inspired today by a post written by Lottie Kendal about the fog in San Francisco.  Earlier this year my wife and I took a day trip from the Central Valley to San Francisco. We were near Fort Mason when I took this photo of the Golden Gate Bridge.  It was a beautiful day with lots of sunshine and a cool breeze.

Golden Gate Bridge in the sunshine.

We walked around Fort Mason for a while enjoying the day and the views. The views from Fort Mason are spectacular in just about any direction.

We may have even stopped into The Interval for an adult beverage.  If you are thirsty and feeling a bit nerdy I highly recommend you pop into The Goldne Gate Bridge in the fog. The Interval.

So a couple of hours later we walked back to our car.  I noticed that things looked a bit different to the west.  I took this second photo of the Golden Gate Bridge from the same spot as the first photo.

Karl the Fog had rolled in and it looked like he was sitting right on the deck of the Golden Gate Bridge.  Maybe he just needed to take a quick rest before heading on into The City.  We always enjoy our trips into San Francisco and look forward to getting back again soon, with or without the fog.

Hi Jim -- the fog is magical; here one minute, gone the next; sunny at the Embarcadero, foggy at Baker Beach. Glad you and your wife enjoyed a respite from the Valley heat.

I have noticed that Lottie Kendall .  Watching the fog roll in from the top of Twin Peaks is pretty awesome too.

It's easy to see why we often leave a bit of our hearts in San Francisco, as the song suggests. Now with a son who works in SF and lives in Danville, I really did leave my heart there when I last visited

The fog can create some interesting scenes, can't it Jim? I just don't like driving through it!

Those was wonderful photos, Jim. San Francisco really is a wonderful place to visit and the fog IS so interesting. My daughter lived in Oakland and we often marveled at how warm and sunny it was at her place and we could see SF from the balcony peaking through the fog!
