This Week… A Long-Awaited Celebration!
In 2017, days before Hurricane Harvey arrived in Houston, my niece and her husband received the gift they’d been hoping for...a 9-day old baby boy. They chose to be Foster to Adopt parents because they wanted to make a difference to a child who might not otherwise have that opportunity.
Parenthood requires love, not DNA. Unknown
It has been two long years but yesterday, September 27, Rafael officially became a member of our family.
No child has received more love! His Guardian Ad Litem added that he’d never seen such strong (and so much of it) family support. Pictured below is just part of our family.
There are times when the adoption process is exhausting and painful and makes you want to scream. But, I am told, so does childbirth. Scott Simon
Until yesterday, we could not share this beautiful child’s photos on social media so some of our family photos on Facebook had balloons or smiley faces to cover his face.
Raffe is so lucky and we are all grateful that he is growing up with a mother and father who love him and will provide everything he needs to become a good citizen of the world.
Adoption one child won’t change the world, but for that child, the world will change. Unknown.
And we as well are blessed to have this young man who asks me for couscous, loves to push elevator buttons, dances to "Baby Shark", and brings so much joy to all of us!
Have a joyful weekend!
