I love to travel. My husband and I pack up " Winnie " and hit the road. We have seen so many amazing things and have learned so much history throughout our travels. Recently, we stopped in Branson, MO and went into an Amish Country Store, As we parked we realized the " Then vs Now " when straight ahead of us was a horse and buggy. As time has evolved it sometimes makes me wonder how we ever got by without the 4x4 trucks or the smart cars. Life was simpler back then. It was a time when a hand shake was still your word and not so much of the dog-eat-dog world we live in now.
The one thing I have learned about the Amish is that they still do not live like most of us do. They aren't hurried, " things " don't mean as much to them as they do us. Family and faith seem to be the most important thing and time never seems to run away from them because they simply don't worry about it. They don't live hurried. They live minimally where being happy is more important than competing with what other people have.
I also learned they make a mean Syrup. All natural ingredients, none of the artificial ingredients found in our commercial syrups we pick up off the shelf at our local grocery store. It sure did make my pancakes taste amazing this morning!
