Every year, we at 55places see a different active adult community, whether it’s established or new, dominate others in many metrics. In sales, leads, and pageviews, there’s almost always one community that stands out from the others. Recently, it’s been Latitude Margaritaville Daytona Beach and Sun City Hilton Head, but in 2019, we’ve seen some of the best numbers ever by On Top of the World in Ocala, Florida.
On Top of the World has been around since 1981, and it’s still building with plans for 10,000 homes upon completion. What’s made On Top of the World such a success among active adults, especially this year?
What On Top of the World—OTOW as residents call it—does better than perhaps any other community is provide affordable homes alongside expansive, resort-style amenities. OTOW regularly has homes listed for sale below $100K that are great for downsizing on a budget, but it also caters to those who want to remain in a single-family home. There are over 100 floor plans in OTOW, so it’s hard to not find the right floor plan and home for you.
Once you’ve settled into your new home, it’s time to explore the community’s amenities. Spanning six buildings and acres of outdoor space, OTOW’s amenities cater to almost every interest imaginable. That includes exercise facilities, 12 pickleball courts, gardening plots, and more—and that’s just near the Recreation Center.
OTOW also has two community centers (one for each neighborhood), the Arbor Club and Conference Center, an Olympic-size pool, and the Craft Building for hobbies like woodworking.
The community is also home to Circle Square Commons, the entertainment and social hub of OTOW. It has an education center, a design studio, a cultural center, an ice cream shop, a deli, and the town square.
