My cable company has added a new feature.

When you've recorded a program on the DVR, it gives you "smart resume" that allows you to fast-forward through the commercials, and automatically restarts when the program returns.

I have been wanting this feature for years. I figured they must have the technology, but the advertisers would never go for it.

I mean, c'mon, really? Bypass all the commercials that actually pay for the programming? The'll never let that happen. In fact if you go to "On Demand", many of the programs won't even allow manual fast-forwarding.

But in this case, programs that you've recorded allow you to skip the commercials. I'm not sure I'll ever watch "live" programs again.

Hi Alan- Larry just noticed this feature last week!!! I don't know who your provider is but ours also reinstated the ability to set a recording from your iPhone or other devices. I love technology!!!

Alan May - I'm glad to know your wish came true! I don't have that feature on my TV. Commercials gives me reason to pause and snooze. Unfortunately, I miss a lot of programs by sleeping through the long commercial! Zzzzzzzzzzz
