Obviously, he didn't put all of his eggs in one basket. Distracted about missing his favorite sports show or other nightly entertainment he forgot to pay 7 years' worth withholding!
Deciding to sell the business for over $6 million, he found other things to do with the money instead of paying his back taxes.He now will have plenty of time to write new business plans as it is expected to be sentenced early 2020. Potential jail time is six years. Money owed to the IRS? Nearly 2 million.
In another case, one of the biggest fears for any taxpayers is their personal information will be misrepresented either by accident or intent. A Federal Court in West Palm Beach has decided to take several veteran taxpayers out of the tax preparation business.
The Justice Department recently announced an order permanently barring Jeffrey Cadet, Kersh Tax Slervice, LLC and Kersha Lewis from preparing federal tax returns for others, or owning or operating a tax preparation business.
It was determined that the two seasoned tax preparers were a little too optimistic with clients' returns plus charged exorbitant fees for there creativeness
