45th Annual Carlsbad Village Faire 2019
November 3rd in Carlsbad
Fall is a popular time for outdoor events in Carlsbad. We’ve already had the popular Oktoberfest Fall Festival and the Super Hero Obstacle Race this past weekend, with the Pumpkin Plunge at the Alga Norte Aquatics Center coming up on the 19th. Carlsbad’s Halloween in the Village takes place on the 26th.
Next on the Fall event agenda is one of arts and crafts lovers’ favorite fairs, the Carlsbad Village Faire, on Sunday November 3rd.
The 45th Annual Carlsbad Village Faire (it happens twice each year, also in May) is supposedly the largest 1-day outdoor fair in the US, and if you have ever been you know why they say this. You can expect a huge crowd so get there early.
The Carlsbad Village Faire basically takes over downtown Carlsbad Village, on the north side of Carlsbad Village Drive along State Street and Grand Avenue, and on neighboring streets from Carlsbad Boulevard to Jefferson and North/South from Beech to Carlsbad Village Drive, covering roughly a 14-block area.
It’s truly a mobile arts and crafts mall!!
The 2019 Carlsbad Village Faire opens at 8 am and lasts until 4 pm. I hate to mention the approaching holidays, but they are getting closer, and you can enjoy some great shopping opportunities, with more than 800 vendors offering almost anything you can imagine – home accessories and furnishings, unique clothing, art, antiques, plants, household products, items from around the world, and so much more it will boggle the mind.
Foodies won’t get hungry at the Carlsbad Village Faire, with numerous food booths at the International Food Center that will surely satisfy any appetite.
There will be plenty of live music, too, on the community stage.
The Kiwanis Club continues their 25+ year tradition, hosting a pancake breakfast at the Train Depot, just a short distance from the heart of the Village Faire. You can enjoy the breakfast between 7 am and 12 noon, with sausages, pancakes, orange juice and coffee.
There will be plenty for kids to enjoy, too, including rides.
If you actually get tired of the Carlsbad Village Faire, there are abundant retailers and restaurants along State Street, Grand Avenue, Carlsbad Village Drive and other streets to explore throughout the day. Plus the beautiful Carlsbad beaches are only a couple of blocks away, too!
Given the popularity of this event you can expect parking will be a challenge (remember, it’s all FREE in Carlsbad Village). A good option is to take advantage of the 2 FREE shuttles. Shuttles run from the northwest corner of Sears at The Shoppes at Carlsbad near the 78 and El Camino Real, and from the Poinsettia Coaster Station on Avenida Encinas (go north from Poinsettia Lane off the 5 freeway). Shuttles run every 15 minutes and could save you the hassle of trying to park in town.
There is handicapped parking at the Visitors Center (the Train Depot) and the Village Faire shopping center close to all the action, but be aware it's limited.
Don’t miss one of the nation’s best outdoor one-day fairs Sunday, November 3rd in Carlsbad Village – fall is a beautiful season at the beach in Carlsbad, and the Carlsbad Village Faire 2019 promises to be another winner following 4+ decades of success.
