Arthur E. Drumm

Managing Real Estate Broker with Fathom Realty PB00068179

Arthur E. Drumm was born in Marysville, Ohio back in 1929 to Francis and Evelyn. He graduated from the Marysville High School in 1948, at which time he enlisted in the United States Marine Corp.

Once he was discharged he returned to Marysville where he worked on his own farm until he was in his mid 30’s. in 1964, he opened up his own business and as they say the rest is history. By the 1970’s he sold his product not only locally but nationwide. He obtained several patents for his invention. In 1990 he merged his business, then he went off on another adventure which he sold in 1999. He died in 2014, he was 84.

What you may not know about Arthur is that the business he started up was the modern street sweeping broom industry.

We will be hearing those street sweepers more often as the leaves fall in our area...and now we know where the thought to have them originated.

Good morning, James Dray I love to see the street sweeping machines hit the roadways at the end of every season, but especially winter... the salt kills the vehicles...

That's a good thing Arthur Drumm invented, James. Otherwise we'd be seeing an awful lot of human street sweepers sort of what I'm seeing here in Russia even today.

Hmm, I have always been against the use of a street sweeper.  I could be wrong, but it seems to me that they don't really clean that much and they scratch away the surface of the street instead.
