Real Estate Agent with Forks Avenue Real Estate

I have been a hovering member for a couple of years now.  Read alot of blogs and posts but have not had the courage to start writing myself.  I have been in the real estate business for the last five years.  I have gone from agent to associate broker to designated broker out of necessity.  We are in the process of developing and building a new office in our town which is a bit scary in these turbulent times.  However, the work goes on, the move day nearly set and every agent in our office is getting antsy to be in our new building.

We are trying cubicles which make me a little apprehensive, I am afraid I am going to feel like I am in a little dungeon. I have spoken to the owner of the building but he was adament about the cubicles.  We had, in our old building, an open floor plan which was good and bad.  Good because we all could kind of keep up on what everyone was doing.  Bad because there was no privacy and a lot of time no quiet.

I don't really know how to blog, I understand you just pick a subject and just start writing.  Anyone have any tips?

Forks is on the northwest coast of Washington state and there are two real estate offices in town.  Us and the competition.  The nearest larger town is Port Angeles and it is 60+ miles away.  Some Port Angeles real estate offices are coming out this way.  However, with gas prices the way they are I am not sure how many agents want to travel all the way out here to show their houses.

I think this is the end for my first post, I hope I didn't offend anyone or bore anyone to tears.  Wishing everyone a good productive week and sunshine and warm temps for me.

Patrica, I don't know if you should be considered a newbie if you have been reading blogs that long.  Congratulations on making your first post.  It wasn't that painful after all was it?

Welcome! I learned nearly everything I know about blogging by doing searches on Active Rain blogs. There are some serious bloggers here and they are very helpful. I can offer non-specific advice and that is to keep your blog focused and use focused keywords/tags in every post you write. Make your blog about your specialty, your community, or your hobby, etc. and stick with the theme. That will get your google juice flowing.

Hope that helps and good luck to ya!

Pat, your post was terrific!  I have a great little sign for you..."cubicle, sweet cubicle"...privacy is big when you are prospecting, which I expect you are doing every day...we are back to basics!

It's good to know someone in Washington...occasionally I have a referral for that direction and no one to send it to.  See what blogging has done for you already?

write what you know Patricia.  Write about you, write about your latest real estate experience ( change names, cityies, purchase price and date) so clients don't get mad.  Write about curb appeal tips, buyers tips, sellers tips, about your family, your loves.  Don't be controversial be pleasant, be nice always remember you are writing to prospective customers.

Use your keywords like (what ever city) ie Metro Detroit real estate, or Metro Detroit homes for sale.  That will build you a web presence for your area.  Good luck.  If you have any questions feel free to contact me.

Welcome aboard and congrats on taking "the leap of faith" and posting.   I would say the same.. i've learned almost all I know from reading and interacting with fellow AR members.

Pick a topic, consider who you are trying to write to and what that reader wants.   Based on that the topics will come to you.

Good luck and if you have questions we are all here to help

Welcome to AR... as a blogger.  If I can help you, don't hesitate to let me know.  I'm newer than you to AR but have been actively blogging since December/January.  All the best in your cubicles.  Many of our agents work more at home than in the office because of gas, and getting more work done at home!  Our buyers are an endangered species at the moment.

Patricia, Welcome to posting blogs!  I hope that the cubicles work out for you.  We have some offices with a some open spaces.  The nice thing is that we have conference rooms to use when we're with a client(as long as they're available), it works for us, but I understand the need for quiet!
