Barbara - that is one problem that comes up--separating personal realtionships from business relationships.
Wayne - trust is built on being dependable and authentic.
Larry and Sheila - yes, accountability all around is so very important.
Sham - thank you.
Nick - his presentation style is not at all staged. I felt like it was a one to one converstion.
Thank you very much, Grant, for sharing your experience and your advice.

Being authentic is very important, especially when it comes to being in a leadership role. So many people these days will tell you what you want to hear and I don't like that.

Nina - that is very true. It is about relationship.
Michael - Ken was just as fresh as he ever was.
Grant,
Ken Blanchard has been an inspiration for both of us. I especially liked your last paragraph, and this sentence, "The leader stays with them not to manage but to coach them to reach their full potential. Performance discussions are necessary but not so that you can have a bell-shaped curve.'

Hi Grant Schneider,
How very exciting to have the opportunity to hear Ken Blanchard in person. I have read two of his many books. The One Minute Manager and The One Minute Manager Meets The Monkey. I enjoy his style of writing.
I have always been a big fan of promoting leaders from within. People are identified and coached and trained in the necessary skills to move to the next level. A mentor should be identified to help continue to coach to help the manager avoid the "Peter Principle".

Grand you provide four good examples. The fist and last are the ones that stand out most for me.

Ron and Alexandra - He is quite an inspiration. He really gets you thinking about the why and being who you are but understanding service too.
Sheri - I have a number of copies of the One Minute Manager. Great book.
George - And I feel too that being persistent and consistent will change culture.
James - that is a given.
Wonderfully done Grant!!! Not everyone is a leader/manager. They may know their industry better than anyone else but that's not all that's needed. I learned a lot from watching Larry and how he managed and lead those around him. (don't tell him I said that).

Grant, have never officially had a "leadership" role, as I am the Broker with no agents, but have led round-table events at the Board on different topics.

If you need to get a quick burst of inspiration on what you are teaching click the link above. I am living this all the time for Individuals who really need it. Thanks
Kathy - no I won't say a word. You are right that knowledge of industry is not nearly enough.
Joan - that is it! You are a leader! You don't need the title.
Good morning, Grant Schneider leaders who are not authentic will be exposed quickly....it's easily recognizable.... everyone is watching ....and it's most important to separate business from personal.... I never socialized with individual agents in the office....only as a group..... I only socialized with individual agents outside of my office....
