Real Estate Key

By
Real Estate Agent with Austin Texas Homes

Over the years I have been asked if there is one key to a Real Estate purchase what would it be. There are a number of things I bring to the attention of my clients who are looking to purchase a home or property. it is difficult to nail down a single key but there is something that I believe is key to all purchases but especially when you purchase a home...

    Buy what you Love!

Years ago I had developed a close relationship with an antique dealer. He owned a local shop near my home and it was filled with some amazing antiques. The first item I purchased from him was a beautiful antique necklace for my wife for Christmas. I enjoyed looking at all of the beautiful antiques in his store, he had an eye for antique beauty and artistry. After a few purchases over the years, I had an opportunity to ask him a question: "I am interested in starting a collection of antiques that I could cash in later toward retirement income. What would you recommend I collect?"  His answer became my guide to purchases. He said: "Collect what you love. Don't waste your time and money trying to purchase items that may or may not have great value in the future. If you purchase what you love it will never matter how much that article appreciates or depreciates, you will always love it."

HI Alan- you make a great point. Besides we can never know for sure where the future market will head. Why not purchase and live in what you love.

Good morning Alan. Must say your antique dealer was quite the philosopher. Took me many years to agree with him. Enjoy your day!
