Expect nothing appreciate everything. Is this a double edge sword? Today, in the world we live in we see many people who have come to expect things rather than appreciate the things that are done for them. Those are the ones known for their entitlement attitude. Yet, a person whether religious or spiritual is taught to expect everything, act as if it's here ( believe and you will receive ) and appreciate it being in that emotion of gratitude. When we don't expect the amazing things we want in our life, we often become comfortable and complacent not wanting to improve or move forward to better things.
I think it is about finding balance. I think it is about expecting the best, knowing that you have to work towards whatever it is you are expecting, and appreciate the fact that not only did you receive it, but you also created a plan of action to achieve that in which you are expecting. After-all, we expect an " outcome ", we expect that if we create goals and we work towards them we will " expect " for them to come into fruition.
I think the part that so many miss, like this poster says, is to appreciate everything. Without appreciation there is no gratitude, without gratitude we cannot receive more to appreciate and be grateful for. Even if what we expect to happen doesn't we should appreciate the lesson.
What say you?
