We had a wonderful owl experience tonight at our house in Carlsbad, although the photo is not great.
We have been hearing the Great Horned Owls daily for weeks, but don't see them.
This evening, as it was getting dark, I heard an owl that sounded really close. I went out to the back patio and saw it up on the chimney - clear as day. He, or she, was calling to another one nearby, who was hooting back.
Luckily, I was able to sneak back in and grab my phone. More amazingly, whenI got back outside the second owl showed up and we were treated to a fun conversation between the 2, for about a minute, before they flew off. The video quality is not the best, but nature sure is wonderful, isn't it!

How cool is that, Jeff! I'm not a "bird person," but I do have a connection with owls as the owl is the symbol of my sorority, Chi Omega. So I actually do have a gold owl on my charm bracelet.
My iPhone is pretty good with the sound, although the photo and video quality is not all that great sometimes...depends on the light. Anyhow, we were glad to have been treated by the owls’ visit.
