A Reminder About the ActiveRain Challenge for October 2019

Halloween is coming up quickly, and you don’t want to be haunted by the fact that you didn’t participate in the October Challenge about your past life before real estate. And missed out on those 1000 bonus points for your reflections.

This is a friendly reminder the deadline is 10 days from now, on October 31st, at 11:59 PM PST. Since that IS Halloween and you could be busy with other things that evening, don’t put on writing your post til the last minute and miss out.

It’s been great fun to read the posts so far (almost 20) where Rainers have shared their past lives before getting into the real estate business. If the comments are any indication, lots of us have thoroughly enjoyed these posts, plus getting to know our friends better, and clearly they were fun to write as well.

RE/MAX Destiny in Cambridge MASome here on ActiveRain have moved into a fullitime role as a REALTOR, or mortgage officer, or some other real-estate related position as their first “real” career.

But most of us had one or more prior careers before entering the real estate business. (photo is of my first brokerage office, RE/MAX Destiny in the Harvard Square area of Cambridge MA).

If you read the initial challenge post you know the goal is to share your previous career or careers with us, and talk about your path to becoming a licensed real estate professional, staging professional, home inspector, mortgage officer, title or escrow officer, real estate consultant, and so on.

The choice is yours, of course, but you might tell us more about your past career, what you liked about it (or didn’t), and how and why you transitioned into the real estate profession.

We all bring skills, talents and habits, good and bad, to our current role from the past, so share some of those if you wish – we’d love to hear!

Need some inspiration? Check out some of the posts already shared – the links are in the comment section of the original post.

REMINDER ABOUT THE RULES:

As with every challenge there are several rules to follow in order to be rewarded with those 1000 bonus points:

1. Your post must be at least 250 words – I think you will find this pretty easy once you start writing about your past life and how you got to where you are today in the real estate business!

2. Please include at least 1 original photo that’s relevant…perhaps something from your prior life, or your current one…or even a video if you wish.

3. IMPORTANT! You must share a working link to your masterpiece in the comment section IN THE ORIGINAL POST NOT HERE before the deadline on 10/31/19 at 11:59 pm PST.

Thanks for the reminder, Jeff!  It's been over three years since I have posted and you do have a great contest going here about the interesting past lives of AR members before entering the world of real estate!
