Selling Your Home This Fall? What To Do... What Not To Do...

The Do's and Don'ts Of Selling Your Home This Fall

Fall is a great time to list and sell your Charlotte area home. There are a number of great reasons to consider selling this fall. They include:

  • A more serious buyer pool. Serious buyers who missed out on the spring and summer home selling season may very well be feeling the pressure to get into a new home before the holidays.

  • Less competition from other home sellers. Combine this with serious sellers and your odds of selling your home quickly go up.

  • Buyer demand is strong. Charlotte area continues to suffer from a lack of inventory despite strong buyer demand.  With demand strong, low inventory and less competition, this fall season is perfect for selling.

  • Interest rates remain low. Historically low interest rates encourage more buyers to purchase a home before they increase again.

  • Fall decor can enhance curb appeal and interest in your home. Curb appeal is important year-round and the fall season lends itself to excellent appeal.

  • Online home searches increase in the fall, as people spend more time indoors and tend to do more home research online during times they were outdoors over the spring/summer.

So if you've been thinking about selling your Charlotte area home this fall season, check out the infographic below for tips on what to do and what not to do when selling your home.

When working with a seller to be the question on when to sell always comes up. In my simple life existence my answer is always the same: Right now!

Richie Alan Naggar hi Richie... I learned a long time ago that there's really never a bad time to sell... you might not want to actually list a house on Christmas Day or Thanksgiving Day, for example, but as for seasons... there are always buyers in the market.

Michael Jacobs thanks, Michael... at the end of the day, it's really never a bad time to list one's home so long as it's properly staged, priced, and marketed.

Hi Nina- beautifully done post!  Many buyers will want to be in their new home for the holidays!  Just because it's October doesn't mean homes won't sell. We've purchased most of our own homes in the fall.

All very valid reasons to list in the fall.Lack of competition is a big one. In our area, everyone seems to slow down - especially the real estate agents! Most slow to a crawl and then to a stop.

The agents who work and market their listings do very well.

I wish I could say yards are prettier here in N. Idaho at this time of year. But... frozen flowers just don't make the grade. Pumpkins and corn stalks do!

Kathy Streib hi Kathy... I've always sold a lot of homes in the fall and holiday season... sometimes more than in the height of the spring season! It's a great time to sell and to buy.

Marte Cliff hi Marte... Charlotte's weather makes it a bit less of a "seasonal" market... but even in fall and winter there are things we can do to enhance curb appeal.

Matthew Klinowski, PA hi Matt... Charlotte area has been a seller's market for some years now.... but with more buyer demand and low interest rates, it's a great time to sell.

Jeff Dowler, CRS thanks, Jeff. I also like listing homes during the holiday season... never had any problem selling during those weeks... little competition and buyers are really serious then.

Great tips. My aunt is moving to Charlotte soon and could possibly be in the market. Not sure if she'll be renting or buying. If she is buying she'll be looking for houses that follow this infographic.
