Once a fitness instructor. Now a REALTOR®. Always your cheerleader.

I love to work out, a lot, and pretty much daily. My earliest memories of myself exercising are the jogs my dad took me on as a wee one. And I am still running...

Besides running I also have a few strength classes firmly (well, as firmly as is possible for a busy REALTOR® and soccer mom) scheduled into my weekly agenda. I wholeheartedly believe that regular me-time, pursuing my passions and doing my body and soul good, help me become the best version of myself. It helps me be a better mom, daughter, friend, and REALTOR®. I get the best ideas when I'm out on a trail. I can let go of stress and frustration vs. directing it towards others. I find my balance, my focus, and my heart through exercising.

I would be remiss if I didn't include a shout-out to the extremely awesome instructors at LifeTime Fitness in Columbia, especially Keisha & JR! These two are the best! They kick my bootie just right (not literally, but you know what I mean). They propel me forward on my health and strength journey. They challenge me in new ways, and I'm always up for a good challenge. They inspire me. And although they make me cuss a little on occasion, too, I do so with love, respect, and heartfelt gratitude.

Balance. Strength. Passion. Focus. Motivation. These are all attributes of a good work-out, and a good instructor.

From Spinning instructor to REALTORBack in the day, when SPINNING® (or indoor cycling) was the new kid on the fitness block, I became an instructor. One of my very favorite aspects of teaching fitness classes was the opportunity & responsibility of guiding my team on their journey to a better and healthier version of themselves.

I was their biggest fan, and their (loudest) cheerleader. When you stand in front of a room full of people who look at you with anticipation, joy, and sometimes dread, all you want to do is to make them proud. You want to see them elated, and happy, and sweaty at the end of the class. You want them to challenge themselves, to pull a little harder, climb a little higher, and sprint a little faster. So you motivate, you support, and you cheer - a lot, because you want to see every single person succeed and reach their goal.

Many years later, I still find myself motivating, supporting, and cheering. I still am my clients' biggest fan. As a REALTOR® I still get to guide every single one on their very own journey - albeit a different one. I still assist, instruct, lead, and cheer.

It's what I have always done. The sport has changed. The goals are different. But the need for expert guidance, support, and motivation is very much the same.

When you are house-hunting and just can't find the one, or get outbid time and time again, you need me, your REALTOR®, to also be your cheerleader. No, you won't have to keep renting. No, you won't have to settle (I won't let you!) for a house you don't really want. When it doesn't work out, it's not the right house. We will find the one. We will do our due diligence. We will be the first in line. We will look at all possibilities. We will make it happen! Promise

When you are selling your home, have prepared it as best as possible, and are not seeing immediate success, you need me, your REALTOR® to not only be your voice of reason, but also your cheerleader. No, you can't control the market, nor your neighbors. No, you can't change your view/location on a busy street/the fact that a storm forced you to clear your previously wooded lot. But you can follow my lead, implement my suggestions, help me spread the word socially. We will make sure your listing is well presented. We will market it to the nth degree. We will get creative, think outside the box, and always find the positive. Our efforts (selling a home IS very much a team sport) will pay-off. We will find the right buyer - even if we have to sell it twice! Promise

Once a fitness instructor. Now a REALTOR®. Always your cheerleader.

P.S. If you see me at LifeTime Fitness, or out running, don't be shy - please say Hi! If you would like to join me for a run, or at one of Keisha's or JR's classes, please get in touch. And if you'd like for your REALTOR to also be your personal cheerleader, you can reach me on my cell 240.593.2860, or at andreabedard.re@gmail.com.

Hi Andrea:

This was terrific! I loved what you had to say about working out, getting inspired, and in particular that you were a spinning instructor (I take spin classes 3 - 4 times a week these days). I think the analogy of being an instructor is so appropriate for our business! Thanks for your entry!

Jeff

Sometimes it's a sprint, and sometimes it's a marathon Grant Schneider - I am always training to master both :)

Thank you so much Jeff Dowler, CRS! So glad you enjoyed it! I don't get to Spinning classes as much as I would like... running and strength training take precedence nowadays (I am eyeing a couple of half marathons next year). But I really do miss being in front of a class. It's super special to motivate an entire room full of people across the finish line.

I honestly don't have a concept of this thing you call ME time.  I actually am sure I've never had it. However, I am good with things in my life the way the are.  I have quality time for family, friends, coworkers... so I'll leave it as it is.  But the "teacher" gene is something we have in common besides real estate.

I believe that you do Tammy Lankford, you may just label it something different. I recall a post you published some time ago about making sure you are taking your dogs out for a walk, to get some fresh air & accomplishing your step goals? That's it, whatever you choose to do to find balance, quiet, to breathe and center yourself...

As a single mom and a businesswoman I need to/want to feel balanced, and grounded, so I can raise balanced & well-rounded kids, and am able to remain calm and level-headed during the most stressful situations in Real Estate. Me-time is my time to accomplish that, to unplug, unwind, relax, so I can be focused and present in my career and as a mom the other 23 hrs of each day. I know, you get that... your me-time is probably us-time, quality moments with the hubby (I don't have one of those, I run and strength train instead )

I very much believe so Brian England, it does take a lot of stamina at times! It's def not a 9-5 job (and I like it that way) with lots of juggling and organizing, and marathon negotiations, and sprints to the closing table ...

You know I didn't realize it, but that is one reason I'm feeling the loss of some "me time".  My husband has taken over the task since he hasn't worked since July. (he was injured at work) and my life is immensely busy right now.  But I need to find a place in my day to take some me time again.

Both Jeff Masich-Scottsdale AZ Associate Broker,MBA,GRI, choose both! I visited with a past client yesterday who had a baby a few months ago. We took baby for a walk while catching up, checking out homes for sale in their historic subdivision (which I adore), and taking pictures for my Instagram (which I'll post next week). It was such lovely afternoon - I love my career

I am planning on doing just Michael Jacobs. I feel off when I don't get to move (with intention and purpose)! I got into the habit of getting up and walking laps, or circles, every time my phone rings. It helps with staying present, too, vs. getting distracted by other things (like an email coming in, breaking news etc.). There's definitely a connection!

Hi Dusty,
Oh how I wish I liked to work out. I've always been very athletic but I have never enjoyed what I consider exercising Even, as a child in P.E. doing the jumping jacks and all the other stuff I hated it. Now, I do my treadmill and some other fitness stuff because I know I need to in order to keep my agility and mobility... which is waning with age.

It's important to be physically and mentally strong in real estate, isn't it?

You've got to find a way of being active that you actually enjoy Carol, that's the key! You shouldn't have to talk yourself into it. It should be regular me-time that you look forward to, are excited about, and can't wait to do. Perhaps the treadmill is not your thing? How about swimming? Hiking with a buddy?

Thank you so much Patricia Feager, MBA, CRS, GRI,MRP - and I am so sorry for not responding sooner. I believe I was preparing for a Halloween party at my house when you commented, meant to get to it later, and then probably fell into a food coma So much for talking about fitness! (but balance is key.)

I do enjoy the cheerleading part a lot - things don't always go as hoped, or quite as smoothly as we all want, it's important to stay positive. I firmly believe that there's a solution for every problem, a house for every buyer, and a buyer for every listing, and I always encourage my clients to hang in there. We will solve the problem, we will find the one, and we will sell your house!
