Think Thin Thursday ~ On the Rebounder, Jump Your Way to Better Health

Whether you like the term Rebounder or Mini-trampoline they're describing the same thing. You could read up on the benefits of rebounding in thousands of articles books and videos but I'm here to tell you that anything that's fun and keeps you moving is a good thing. Filled with theoretical jargon and scientific evidence to prove their viability the bottom line is that you'll likely enjoy bouncing around on these miniature trampolines. I have had two and while they do not take up much real estate the price per square foot of FUN can't be beat.

Depending on your physical ability you could burn about a calorie per minute.

The 80's are back, look for names like "Urban Rebounding" to see the resurgence.

Chronic injuries are less likely when jumping on a rebounder rather than a concrete floor.

Keep your balance and reduce the risk of falls all while saving your joints.

Step away from the computer once an hour and do 100 to 200 jumps and see huge benefits.

You'll be better off going higher quality with six legs, steel springs or superior strength bungees and a UV resisitant platform. You can even add a handle bar for more stability. Generally look for a rebounder that's user rated for 350 to 400 pounds for your safety.

I won't go into the details of the studies which support rebounding but we all know that exercising is good for us. Rebounding is fun and easy with physical benefits that can surely change your life and may become a habit if you give it a try. Hop on & go for a ride!

Good morning, Kevin J. May I'll need to try that at the Y... I've been on a trampoline but not a mini trampoline...

I read that lymphatic fluid flow can increase by up to 28% with rebounding. Anything that can help manage inflammation works for me Sham.

Hello Kevin - any activity where moving more is a part of the plan must be good, right?  Another benefit - fewer calories.  Intentional and unintentionally.

Preferably fewer fat calories if possible.

Kevin,

We have two friends that swear by it!  It does look like fun!  It reminds me of bouncing on a trampoline.  Happy Thursday!  A

Reminds me of jumping on the bed as a kid without the yelling of course! Always a good workout with brothers and cousins ready to join in.

I have heard a lot of good things about doing this, but never actually tried it myself.  Taking breaks in between blogging would be a great way to exercise throughout the day.

I am thinking that that would be an ideal scenario for rebounding. It's the cumulative effect that counts.

That photo is "crazeeeee", read the repost by Brian and had not seen the photo, not what I was thinking about with the term re-bounder. That looks VERY serious exercise.

Nick, that is one of the things I like best about these rebounders. You can take the exercise from EZ to extreme as you progress.

P.S. I don't go that high, it's baby steps as my balance gets better.

The group idea is a concept we never had in the early days of rebounding. My first time was around '90 or '91, we just had fun doing it even without the full knowledge of its benefits. Have a blast!

I used to have one of those before it gave out. Never did anything like the people pictured, though. Tons of fun.

Jill, they are one piece of equipment that you know will eventually wear out and hopefully with fair warning. There's something about low-impact jumping that soothes mind & body but a calorie burning cardio workout is only one thought away with rebounders.

Kevin, thanks for the health tip. I'll have to give it some thought. How is it on your joints?

No pounding with this one Carla and it covers beginner to expert with quality equipment.

I had no idea...

Interesting. My concern would be how dizzy I would get...maybe it would help improve my balance!

Simple, easy to do and the benefits are highly touted and varied. I have had a couple of rebounders and if nothing else they are fun Sharon!
