2004 was a big year for me. I set the record for highest grossing sales month at the 36 year old office equipment company where I was employed, got married and had a PERFECT wedding on castle steps (too bad Prince Charming was Prince This-Won't-Last-Because-I'm-A-Schmuck; but that's a different blog!), bought a new house and sold my existing house, and most important - incorporated Ross Designs, LLC!!!!
It took me awhile to get set-up and ready to recruit new clients - federal tax ID numbers, insurance policies, logo, website, marketing materials, all while juggling a family and a full time sales career. But by summer of 2005 I acquired my first vacant client and I was ecstatic.
The house was a large ranch, about 3,500 square feet. I just Staged the main areas - exterior porch, interior entry, living room, two bathrooms, dining room, eat-in area of kitchen, covered patio, conversation area. I learned more on that job than I have on any other Staging job since and I am so blessed that the agent and seller took their chance on a newbie like me and gave me such a great start in the biz.
So here I am, three years and several hundred Staged homes later, and I think of how much wiser I am now than I was then. But you know how that saying goes, the more I learn, the more I realize how much there is that I don't know (or something like that).
Unfortunately I didn't even have a digital camera yet when I did that job so I had to take non-digital pictures (can you imagine the horor!) and scanned them into my computer. Most of those photos are on my OLD computer - my how times change so quickly - but here is the one set of before and afters that I have readily available.
(By the way, the house sold quickly and both agent and owner were very pleased).
