Well, they finally did it. They opened Arizona’s first, and the world's largest, White Castle Hamburger restaurant.
In what has become another of Scottsdale’s “not so secret” amenities. The place made news by having anxious Cravers lining up days before to be the first to enjoy a fresh, not frozen, slider.
The Arizona White Castle is located at 9310 East Vía de Ventura in Scottsdale. As predicted the place was mobbed with fans. The doors opened at 8 a.m. on Wednesday morning and was supposed to be open for 24 hours. But by 4 a.m. on Thursday morning, the restaurant had sold out of burgers and was forced to close down temporarily. At one point, White Castle was forced to implement a “60-slider limit", as people were ordering the little burgers one hundred at a time. At least they didn't run out of the little boxes.
It is no surprise that the new restaurant is so successful. The Phoenix metro is a popular destination of people from all across the nation. When a little bit home arrives, people come out in droves.
Although White Castle chose Scottsdale, a somewhat upscale area to test the Phoenix market, I am sure there will be future locations. Perhaps their next location can help revitalize a hard-pressed neighborhood that is in need gentrification?
Regardless, we welcome White Castle to Scottsdale. It is just another reminder of why we relocated here. It is another of Scottsdale’s hidden treasures.
Would you like to enjoy 300+ days of sunshine? Delight in open space and beautiful scenery? Enjoy a freash White Castle hamburger? Then perhaps Scottsdale is for you?
