Nathaniel Eaton was born in Great Budworth, Cheshire, England back in 1609 to Richard and Elizabeth. He was educated at Westminster School in London before attending Trinity College, Cambridge. Later he graduated from the University of Padua where he obtained his M.D. and later his P.h.D.
At some time, he moved to the New World settling in Connecticut. He was a founding member for the city of New Haven. In 1640, he moved to Virginia. He sent his wife and children back to England but the ship disappeared never to be found. Around 1669, he returned to England, he died in 1674 in London.
What you may not know about Nathaniel is the he was the first schoolmaster of Harvard College in Cambridge, Massachusetts, he also designed the Seal for Harvard.
