PG&E Shutoffs October 25 in Response to Kincade Fire
I couldn't resist re-blogging this post because it affects all of us and you can visit the website mentioned in here by yourself to find out if your area is mentioned.
My prayers goes out to all that had their homes destroyed by fire in the Kincade fire and down here in the Southern California as well. I have several clients that are affected as well.
God bless you all and stay safe!
In response to hot temperatures and high winds in part of Northern California, PG&E announced potential shutoffs to start at 2 pm on October 25, 2019. Some of this is in response to the Kincade Fire in Sonoma County.
PG&E announced potential shutoffs affecting about 940,000 customers in 36 counties set to start at about 2 pm PST on October 25, 2019. Cstomers should be aware that shutoffs may last for up to a week.
The goal is to prevent more deadly fires that are caused by high winds affecting power lines, as seen in the past few years.
The PG&E website is experiencing heavy loads as people check to see if they or their loved ones are set to be affected. Below are the official sites to check addresses currently set for shutoff. Be careful to only check valid links as some spammers and phishers are already trying to make fake PG&E sites to collect data for fraudulent use.
To look up whether a particular address is set for shutoff, visit https://m.pge.com/#event-map/ or https://psps.ss.pge.com./
To see maps of the affected areas, go to https://m.pge.com/#outages.
If a home is not set for shutoff, a message like this will appear:
No Impact: This location is not impacted by any recent events.
Please call 1-800-743-5002 if you are experiencing an outage at this address.
As the potential shutoffs involve many factors and unknowns, be extra kind and courteous to people today and throughout tis next week. It's awfully hot out for folks to have no power and no air conditioning.
Cooling centers will be available in many Silicon Valley communities, including certain Santa Clara County Libraries, such as the ones in Cupertino at 10800 Torre Ave., and in Campbell at 77 Harrison Ave.
Below is the PG&E message sent out to customers.
Public Safety Power Shutoff This Week to Impact Portions of 36 Counties Beginning Saturday Afternoon Oct. 25
• Potential PSPS Impact Expands by 90,000 Customers: Total projected impact now 940,000
• Power to be shut off for safety in 6 zones starting @ approx 2PM today (weather dependent)
• Historic Wind Event Forecast to Cause Dangerous Conditions Until Midday Monday
