Business promotion ideas

Real Estate Agent with RE/MAX Shoreline New Hampshire & Maine

With Halloween not too far away here's something I've done for the past few years that has actually generated some business.

I get a few boxes of Baggies and put our Halloween treats in them along with two of my business cards.

Knowing most parents look very closely at their kid's candy these days I have found this to be a great opportunity to get my name in front of them in a positive manner.

I also feel that adding my card acts as sort of a "Good Housekeeping seal of approval" that the treat is safe for their children further adding to a positive image.

I usually go a little above average with treats with something like 1 or 2 miniature Snickers or Milky Ways, a couple of pieces of bubble gum, some suckers, and a few other things.

My lovely wife Charlotte still rolls her eyes skyward when I start packing up my Baggies, but one listing or sale from doing this will pay for your Halloween for many years to come.

In Las Vegas, one of our radio stations works with Opportunity Village to sponsor a 'Safe Street' environment for kids ( http://www.safestreetlv.com/ ).

If you live on a block where everyone knows each other, or have a farm area that you've been working for awhile, you can do the 'Safe Street' concept on a smaller scale. Get all of the neighbors to decorate their homes (or at least let you use their yards),  have different goodies available at each home, and promote it throughout the entire neighborhood. You may even be able to work with local police to block off the street to vehicular traffic for a couple of hours.

I wanted to do this last year but one of my best friends told me I shouldn't.  Of course, she doesnt make her living trying to sell houses either...

Sounds like a great idea but unfortunately I live in such a rural area that we get like one child! Maybe I'll come up with some other way to get the word out!!

Its a good idea.  I don't see what it can hurt and if you get a deal out of it, great!

Hhhhhhhhhhmmmmmmmmmmmmm,

I like this idea. We're in a sub-division and get at least 100 kids. Now, some of them are big-shot high schoolers...but, maybe one of my cheap magnets might work.

Gives me time to start working on it.

Thanks.

That is a GREAT Idea, unfortunatly the house we are in now doesn't get any traffic on the great pumpkin night...  BUT the next house should if I get my way. Although the "Woman in Charge" (wife) does have final approval on the next house so I'll need to bring this up.. She misses the kids on haloween we used to get in the last place.

What a great idea, now where else can I pass out candy without getting myself in trouble...

That sounds like a great idea nd a lot of fun.  Unfortunately (or not, depending on how you look at it), I'm surrounded by 5-135 acre farms.  Not much trick or treating here - we all go into "town" to trick or treat.  It's still a great way to meet my neighbor though.
