I have so many things to be grateful for and I could never list them all. I like to think that I give thanks for everything on a daily basis, even if I don't announce it to the world. So, for this challenge, I am not going to worry about trying to decide the things I am most grateful for, I am just going to highlight things that come to mind currently. In thinking about gratitude one of the first things that always come to mind for me is Family. I love my family so very much and I love that we are a close family that cares deeply about each other. I love that my family will always be there for me no matter what and I know that I will always be there for them no matter what. My niece and nephews are having a really rough time right now because their parents are getting a divorce. My heart hurts so much for them and I wish I could take them away from the pain they are experiencing. They should be enjoying their lives to the fullest and they are not able to do that right now, it makes my heart hurt so much.

Totally agree with Alexandra and you I am sure are a great uncle, you just have to be there for them, and let them know they are loved. Divorce is not easy at any stage of life, I know, and kids of all ages find it hard when their parents divorce.

Brian, kids are incredibly resilient! Trust me, they'll be alright. We are 6+ years post separation and 2 1/2 years post divorce. Our situation was/is perhaps a bit trickier - I have sole custody - and my girls are happy and thriving (they both just brought home straight A report cards). I stayed in a bad situation longer, too long, b/c I thought it's what I had to do for my children.. turns out, enduring something that is not right, can cause (a lot) more damage.

Divorce was what happened to others, not me. It was never supposed to be a chapter in my book, until it was.

It is tough, but trust that your whole family will be alright. The kids will adapt, and with lots of support and love (which you all are giving endlessly), they'll get stronger and grow into well-rounded adults.

Yes, family is a big deal. We are also very thankful for our family. And, I'm sorry to hear about the divorce. I can tell you kids are amazingly resilient and having unhappy parents can be very damaging too. It sounds as if you are a wonderful and loving Uncle. They are lucky children to have you.
