The area of commonely known as Ahwatukee Arizona, is in fact really Phoenix. It is very common though for the area to be considered East Valley. The Ahwatukee area is located in the far south portion of the city proper. It is bordered on the North end by the South Mountain preserve, on the East by interestate 10, on the West and South by the indian reservation.
The area offers SO MANY options for people, that it is a popular place to call home. Since it borders the mountain preserve, it is very popular with outdoor enthusiasts which includes: road bikers, mountain bikers, hikers, joggers, climbers and more. In addition there are many places one can participate in sports such as golf (mulitiple courses), basketball, soccer, swimming and more.
For those home owners and renters that are looking for convenience, Ahwatukee offers it as well. With several options for dining, shopping, grocery stores and more. In addition commutes to most areas in the valley are easy. Also, in the very near future (at the time of this post), the south mountain freeway will be opening. The 202 freeway will make commutes to the West/North West valley much shorter, and is also likely to help alleviate some of the rush hour traffic.
