Real Estate Agent with Jameson Sotheby's International Realty

I am a modern-day real estate agent.  Perhaps not a bona-fied techie, but I'm up on the latest.

I use docu-sign, & dotloop, haven't seen hide nor hair of a fax machine in an coon's age, email and texting with the big boys, what's app, photoshop, rezora, screen sharing, digital floor plans, and virtual reality ... it's a brave new world.

But I gotta tell you... I miss the days of writing contracts with a pen, on the warm hood of my car whilst standing outside the property. I miss the adreneline rush.

I think that consumers enjoyed the mystery of it, too. It felt a little like spies and intrigue.


Tuesday afternoon, I'm just beginning to see, now I'm on my way. It doesn't matter to me, chasing the clouds away.

Hi Allan - I remember those days, and the exhilaration of sitting in my car with a buyer, writing up an offer. Fun and exciting.

However, I wouldn't want to give up Docusign. I have written up a purchase offer for a buyers of a San Francisco duplex while on vacation in Seattle (did that in September) and wrioe and submitted a purchase offer for a Silicon Valley condo while in Vancouver at a business seminar (that was in July.) I've sat at a hotel lobby in Kauai and received an offer; worked on a counter offer from a hiking trail, and similar occurrences while visiting in New Jersey/New York.

It's all good.

Yup I remember those days. My very first contract was written on the hood of my car. And the fax thing....it was so exciting when it went off in the office as business was coming in.  Everybody would say INCOMING!

those electronic systems make things easier, but I still pack a blank purchase contract or two in my car at all times.  I've written offers at a playground picnic table, on the roof of a shed (big slope and waist high on the edge) and I can't count the number written inside the closest fast food joint.  Semper Gumby!

A couple of years ago I wrote an offer to purchase on the back of an MLs sheet and send it to the listing agent Bia a photograph from my phone. She was an old-school agent who began real estate while I was still in high school. She had to call me and tell me how my offer to purchase made her so happy. LOL! By the way we did get the deal. That was a fun one.

While techology is necessary in today's real estate business, sadly I think something is lost when we don't get the opportunity to do a face to face meeting with our clients. It can create misunderstandings because they don't read before they sign.

I've recently been involved in a transaction that involved signing documents electronically. I find it very interesting that the program does not encourage reading. As soon as you click to sign one space, it zips to the next place to sign.

I scroll back up and read it anyway, but...
