I was never a girl scout but I do know about kindness and recognize it when I see it. Recently I adopted a senior dog from a rescue in southern Connecticut. The woman who runs this rescue is a very special person who lives generously and loves completely. She has made it her mission to help the those who people generally ignore: the old and less desirable animals that wouldn't find homes without a lot of help.
I used to work in rescue and I know just how hard it is. So many sad stories and so much work staying above water. Red Leash Rescue, (www.redleashrescue.com) in southern Connecticut does amazing work with essentially no help from any agency or individual. I wanted to give this group a shout out because they personify kindness and good. I hope if you are looking to make a difference and looking to adopt, you check them out.
