It is that time of year again, Fall, when the Delaware Antiques Show which benefits Winterthur is held at the Chase Center in downtown Wilmington. Easy to reach from Baltimore, or Philadelphia and surrounding areas it is a gathering of about 60+ dealers from the New England and Mid West areas of America.

Booth at antique show

They bring a wonderful assortment of wares, furniture, silver, ceramics, art, fine art and jewelry to name a few with which you can decorate your home or collect for investment purposes.

Many people say they are environmentalists or concerned about climate change but continue to harm the climate by buying new things such as clothes and furniture which both harm the environment. From the production of trees to the milling and construction plus the shipping of the finished products the furniture industry has a very high carbon footprint.

Far better to purchase antique and mid century items to use around your home, decorate the walls with original art rather than new prints that actually will be a worthwhile investment as well.

Open from November 8th through the 10th, with an opening night party on Thursday November 7th at the Chase Center on the Riverfront, Wilmington, Delaware

And mark your calendar for the Chester County Antiques Show held at the Church Farm School in Exton to benefit The Chester County Historical Society March 13-15, 2020.

Good morning Nick. Were I closer, I would be there. It sounds wondeful.

Hi Nick:

Great information for those who love and collect antiques!

I would certainly be there if I still lived in the area! Will you be attending?

Jeff

Hi, Nick!

In the display window to my right, it looks like there are some Basket pattern dinner plates by Villeroy & Boch.  If they are reasonably prices,  I would be willing to buy a couple. I wish I could be there.  A

Morning Nick

That looks like my kind of place.  Pity I live so far away.

Good morning Nick - I have never been to this show but I am very familiar with the Winterthur.  A magnificent restoration and I would for a company that documented their fabrics and wallpapers.

I have never been much into antiques, but I definitely enjoy seeing things from the past and hearing the story behind them.

Sheila Anderson it was fabulous, I will have some photos later today of my favourite pieces.

Jeff Dowler, CRS I went to the opening and took several photos of things I liked, will post later. Today it is much better to buy antiques, often well priced, than new for the environment.

Ron and Alexandra Seigel no Villeroy & Bosch but some Worcester from 1760's, lots of gorgeous items.

Sheri Sperry - MCNE® there are 62 dealers and the pieces are fantastic.

James Dray just a plane ride away.

Grant Schneider I went through the house a couple of Christmases back and it was delightful.

Brian England it is better for the environment to buy antiques and mid century items that to buy new, so maybe you need to start looking so you can see what you like. There is such an assortment of things.
