9 More November Home Care Tips To Keep Your Home InTop Shape

  1. Service your kitchen disposal by grinding several cups of ice cubes. (I do this every month to keep the blades sharp.)

  2. Put away outdoor furniture or make sure it's properly covered, including your grill.

  3. Pour 1 gallon of water down unused drains.

  4. Clean debris from gutters and make sure down spouts are free of obstructions.

  5. Check for leaks under sinks and toilets.

  6. Check for cracks in your foundation, brick, or stucco.

  7. Review your family's emergency procedures in the event of a home fire.

  8. Examine your chimney, clean the flue, repair any cracks in the flue or loose/crumbling mortar.

  9. If you have a gas log fireplace, have it serviced.

Hi Nina,
This is a great list of home maintenance tips.  I regularly put coffee grounds down my disposal. I've heard that's good for the blades.

Carol Williams thanks, Carol... I never heard the coffee grounds being good to sharpen blades, but was told ice cubes work great. Maybe I'll start putting coffee grounds in the disposal each day now.

What a great list of to dos for Charlotte homeowners.

I had heard of ice cubes also in the disposal, and my coffee grounds go to the plants, It is a great fertilizer.

Michael Jacobs hi Michael... I've always believed that if you break down things into manageable, bite-size pieces it's not all that difficult to keep up with things that need to be done around a house.
