This Week...Heading Into Veteran’s Day Weekend
Not sure where the week went but I woke up Thursday and realized that I need to start preparing for Thanksgiving... in earnest. The menu is easy because it’s etched in all of our minds and memories...turkey, dressing, mashed potatoes, many other side dishes and tons of desserts.
The soldier above all others prays for peace, for it is the soldier who must suffer and bear the deepest wounds and scars of war. Douglas MacArthur
Didn’t we just have our fireworks and hot dogs while we celebrated July Fourth?? And wasn’t it just Halloween??
As we express our gratitude, we must never forget that the highest appreciation is not to utter words, but to live by them. John F. Kennedy
Then my sister-in-law called me Friday while she was out Christmas shopping for the wee ones in our family. What size did little Bethany wear? How should I know?
I’m behind schedule already! If it weren’t for Amazon and the gift every child over 7 loves...a gift card...I’d be in a pickle!
Regard your soldiers as your children, and they will follow you into the deepest valleys. Look on them as your own beloved sons, and they will stand by you even unto death!
Before all of this though is this coming 3 day weekend. If you have that extra day off to be with family or take some much-needed downtime, please remember why we are celebrating Veteran’s Day. If you have children in your home or life, I hope that you’ll teach them about this day and why we need to respect anyone who has or is serving.
Our flag does not fly because the wind moves it… it flies with the last breath of each soldier who died protecting it Unknown
Have a blessed and thankful weekend.
