November Gratitude - Grandparents - The Wind Beneath My Wings

This reminded me of my own grandparents and how they so positively shaped my life - in fact, all four of my grandparents did. I spent summers with my grandparents each year and loved every minute of my time with them.
I grew up in a family of golfers - all of them but, me, of course! We spent lots of time at the country clubs when I was with my grandparents. The only problem with spending time at the clubs? Well, I'm left handed and no one had left handed clubs ...and I'll admit, I think that let me to not really favoring golf! Without left handed clubs, I simply had no interest or the necessary equipment to participate in this sport!
My mother's mother knew this so she always facilitated special days at the club for me - at the pool! I became a great swimmer and high-diver as a result! The Olympic sized pool with both high and low-dive areas, is where I "lived" when everyone was on the course. Well, there was one exception - my grandmother, who was always by my side and remained my biggest fan until the day she died.
*MawMaw's 100th Birthday - she lived to be 106 - and was sharp as a tack, still a huge college football fan and verocious reader and daily crossword puzzler.
The important things in life are not the 'things' but, the people. I will forever be thankful for my childhood with my grandparents - all 4 of them (who, happened to live right around the corner from each other)! I always felt like the luckiest girl in the world when I was with them - and I hope to pay that forward when my boys have children! They were truly the wind beneath my wings throughout my childhood...and beyond.
