Fall in Sedona - My Favorite Time of Year

 The Change Of Temperature

Fall has always been a very special time of the year for me.  Even when I lived in California, I enjoyed the change in temperature. Sure, it was not a drastic change but we would go to "Apple Land" in Oak Glen to enjoy some seasonal change. We would visit the animal farm and enjoy some hot apple cider as we also enjoyed a piece of hot fresh apple pie. Yum Yum!

It was an annual ritual.  We would bring back a gallon of the hard cider and also regular cider to enjoy the rest of the Thanksgiving season.  This was something to truly be thankful for!

Fall Color - Sedona Style

Across most of the United States, the leaves have fallen and the trees are bare or almost bare. In Sedona,  some trees and bushes have shed some of the leaves but most of the color is still visible.  We actually get four seasons but winter and summer are milder because we do not see very much humidity. It is the humidity that makes warm air feel warmer and cold air feel much colder.

Mother Nature Is Good To Us

In other areas that I have lived, I have always dreaded the two extreme seasons. Living in Sedona, I have found that I actually enjoy the seasons as they change. Last February, we had 25 inches of snow but the snow evaporates and it is gone. Our main roads stay clear. We don't have to bundle up. In the summer, the lack of humidity also works in our favor and there is nothing like good monsoon rain.

I am thankful every day for our mild seasonal experiences. Mother Nature is definitely good to us! I hope you enjoyed the video which is just a little slice of Heaven, here on earth.

This tree was one of the pics at my very first listing 8 years ago. It holds a special place in my heart. We put the home on market during November.

Fall Tree sits in front of Sheri Sperrys listing.

As always, if you have any questions about property in Sedona or the Verde Valley or just want a question answered, I am more than happy to help you.

I am fine with not seeing these kinds of views on a daily basis since it stays warm where I am and I know that I am a short drive away from your daily views!

Hi Roy Kelley

Our color is normal for this time of year. I had to go to Flagstaff today and drove through our Scenic Hwy to get there and the color is at its peak. It was gorgeous.

Hi Ron and Alexandra Seigel,

It is great to hear you get to enjoy a true fall. In SoCal that wasn't the case. HaHa!

Thank you Margaret Rome, Baltimore Maryland

We do have many leaves starting to fall.  I am not looking forward (or should I say my husband is not looking forward) to raking leaves!

Hi Tammy Lankford,

Southern AZ fits your perception. However, Northern and Eastern AZ are at higher elevations which get true seasons.

Hi Grant Schneider,

Thank you. I never realized that humidity also plays a part in winter weather.

Hi Brian England - This is your time when all envy the great weather in the East Valley!  I watched the news out of Phoenix and the newscaster was from one of the northern states and he was actually laughing because of the great weather and did not have a problem letting his northern friends know it!

Hi Debb Janes EcoBroker and Bernie Stea JD,

Thank you. I enjoy going outside in the brisk air in the morning and smelling the clean fresh air and doing a little gardening.  I will still have some flowers in winter!

This video is bursting with colors of the rainbow! I could almost feel the soft temperature changes with the breezes blowing gently through the trees and spinning magical lawn ornaments. This video is top notch and very inspiring! Clearly, there is a lot more to Arizona that desert and heat and Sedona is truly enchanting! Who wouldn't fall in love with this city and all its magic? Thanks, Sheri, your post made me happy, it gave me energy, and it was very inspirational!

The color of your leaves are delicious, Sheri.  Our's are now in the color cycle.  They seemed a little late getting started this year.  But, our weather seems more like September, rather than November, currently.

Thank you, Myrl Jeffcoat,

We had a very cold snap earlier in the month and that got the sugar flowing. However, like your area, we are getting some warm weather right now. It was in the mid-70ºs today.

Hi Joan Cox

I had to go through Oak Creek Canyon yesterday and the color was at peak color. It has been a long time since I have caught it just right.  Flagstaff had very few leaves on the trees. Sedona has always had a mid-November peak color period.
