Many Voices Can Create Change....

By
Real Estate Agent with EXP Realty 414-525-0563 57026-90 Broker

I have never been the person to accept changes ...or not want to try to  make them because it's a "done deal" and there is no point in taking the time...making the effort...spending the money.  If I did nothing...and a changechange was made that I believe was detrimental...I am not being true to
myself and my beliefs.   It's like choosing not to exercise your right to vote because you believe your choice of a candidate won't win.

If you have not read our featured post...please do...it's right here.  The longer we are licensed, the less we are willing to accept ridiculous rules...MLS and NAR have spun out of control. WHY do we allow them to control HOW we market our listings ? To be honest...yes...to provide accurate information...of course...To dictate how ...to demand "formats" that make no sense...and worse yet...inflict fines on the agents who provide them with their very existance. Beyond that...we have an example of a clear "MLS infraction"....but two board members are from that brokerage...and they chose to not only ignore it...but lie about it. Enough enough ,...!johnny chochrane

There has to be an enterprising attorney who wants to make a BIG name for her/himself....where is the Johnny Cochran of Real Estate law ?  Someone in ActiveRain knows someone who will help....Members of ActiveRain are bright, astute professionals...we CAN create change. HOW do we do it ?   I don't have all the answers...but I am willing to devote the effort to find them.  We are busy...personally and professionally at this almost merry time of year...it's an excuse lots of people use for not taking action on things that change their lives...and it will not be ours.

If the widow nest door asks you to help her with a sale to her friend's daughter...If the Landlord turned Seller wants to Sell to loyal tenants...if your frien who is now a Personal Representative for her parents' estate has asked you to help a second cousin thru buying the house...are you supposed to just say NO ?  How does this restriction help your client ?

change   Do we start by creating a group on ActiveRain ...called CHANGE...gathering support thru different Real Estate groups on Facebook...that would sound like a start to me...Certainly open to other suggestions....Stand UP for what you believe...or be trampled by those who seek to control your business and the clients you serve.

REBLOG this please...talk about it socially....HELP create change...or be strangled by the entities who continue to take control of your business...and complain about it later.

This has been a post for CHANGE...we can do it ActiveRain...Raise raised handyour hand....and let's see your suggestions for how we can make this happen. Being APATHETIC is PATHETIC....many raised voices can create change.  Thank you for reading this post...and most importantly our gratitude for those of you willing to help create change for a business we love and the clients we have the honor of serving.  Amen and Women.

Good morning, Sally and David... that is indeed the question of the day, if not of the decade... why do we allow organization who exist only because of our monetary support have such power over us? Of course, you answered that question to some degree... apathy.

I thought i was alone yelling at my computer screen. At least here when i questioned authority, it seems i got picked on. Having a sign visible in my mls photo, maiking a typo on a date, listing bank owned wording the bank asked me to put... each one $500 fine, really, that is absurd. I didnt have to pay it as each was fixed immediatly by me and i can  find similar errors on others that are not called out any given day.

Sally- I love your passion and agree. If we all took the stand that nothing will help, then absolutely nothing will get done.

If you're wanting an improvement to real estate law you don't want an attorney like that guy...

But, hopefully you get the change you want!

Sally and David the MLS is suppose to support Realtors not act as their prison guards.  They have lost their direction, and need to be brought back to reality.

Not sure they ever had direction George Souto but they are certainly on a power trip...with NAR joining the fray...yes it IS time for legal action or agents and Sellers will continue to be bulldozed.

Morning Sally.

I surely have voiced my opinion on this topic before.  Apparently NAR is not listening.

Hello Sally and David,  I am not a fan of people that we pay due for and never listen to the member but push what they want to do that effect all of us.

I have been screaming about this for years too, Sally - we actually PAY them to tell us what to do. There's something so wrong with that but, the only option in many markets is to become a Thompson Broker. For me, in my area, with 15,000 agents, it's impossible to function as one and it's tough to make a dent in the population.

I went to bat for our own association to make a change a few years ago - I personally spearheaded the effort - started petitions, made calls, recruited other local agents to go to bat about it and more. We received more signatures on ONE petition for change than the Association had received the past 5 years TOTAL in votes for Association elections - TOTAL! Yet and still, those of us who were the loudest were threatened by our Association officers and were literally escorted out of the meeting that WE had been approved to attend so we could present to the Board. Our two minutes were well organized, non-confrontational and spoke to all points. Yet, they were so head-strong and determined not to make a change, they didn't even want to discuss it. The Board was totally replaced but, the madness continues...

The thing is, these elected officials DON'T SELL REAL ESTATE so, they don't know what the REAL world is like. They don't know what we need. They have NO clue what they are buying when they purchase options to supposedly make our lives better. In fact, many of them are useless tools or make our lives more difficult.

WHY do we continue to spend our hard-earned money, buying into this - locally, statewide or nationally?

It will require legal investigation by the DOJ as suggested by many...I am up for that Debe Maxwell, CRS if there are no enterprising legal authorities in this group.  There are MLS's AND NAR together and separately that are stifling the freedom of Sellers and agents to market properties...and that is just WRONG.

I don't mind fighting, and I don't mind supporting those who fight justly. I'm not sure if this is something that would be along the lines of Brian L. Sirota, Esq. but maybe he has some suggestions?

It has been alllll over the news in the industry...and Mimi Foster  can you assist in providing some of the many links throughout the media that define this for Brian L. Sirota, Esq. ....they are plentiful.

I am familiar with NAR's rule changes on marketing protocol.  Whether Realtors agree or disagree them, I don't understand how it forms a legitimate basis for Realtor activism let alone a lawsuit.

Mimi Foster , please don't compile a list of links on my account.  I'll respectfully take a pass, but thank you for the shout out, just the same.
