The island of Oahu is interpreted to be ‘the gathering place’.
The Hawaii state capitol, Honolulu is a melting pot.
There are people living here, originating from almost every state and nation in the world and we all get along. My wife and I have made friends from nationalities and cultures that one normally does not experience in a lifetime. Example, we went to a birthday party for a friend. The attendees originated in the east and west coast of the USA, Japan, China, Philippines. Even our own family have DNA originating from Hawaii, Indonesia, Germany, Holland, Philippines, China and other parts of Polynesia. OUR FAMILY - I'm the short guy next to my TALL grand-nephew.
We are so very thankful to be living in this place. While you may be experiencing a freeze where you live, yesterday, we had 86 degree clear weather with scattered clouds. The weather here can be a cold 60 degrees in January to a hot 95 degrees in late summer. Mostly, temperatures average around the mid to high seventies. Nearly every day, we wear shorts. Oahu, part of the Hawaiian island chain has the state capital, Honolulu and is about 2400 miles to California and 4,000 miles to Japan. You can take nature hikes, {this is Turtle Island, off the East Coast of Oahu, Nov 2019} do multiple water and sand activities, visit historic Chinatown and the Punchbowl Crater, military cemetery . Waikiki may be one of the most visited beaches in the world. Also, there you can enjoy dining, nightlife and the beautiful city lights. Near Honolulu is Pearl Harbor, home to the USS Arizona Memorial, the USS Missouri and a WWII Submarine. Today this was taken of RABBIT ISLAND off the East Coast of Oahu, as we were driving back home doing business errands.
