Grateful For Creating My Own Exit Strategy And Carrying It Through

Services for Real Estate Pros with RE/MAX Executive Realty 104763

As most of you know, I have not been active in real estate for almost 14 years. Previously, I was a listing agent, and during the final stretch of my career, my focus was new construction. I listed subdivisions filled with new single family homes and a few subdivisions of 55+ high end condominiums.

It was actually a great way to finalize a career. However, my fingers continue to play every day online and offline with real estate marketing.

It’s a great way to continue to make a good income; keep my mind working; and allow myself plenty of time to do other activities for which I have a passion.

I make my own schedule. No one interferes with what I do or how I do it. The team members have their own job descriptions, and if they want something special done in the form of marketing, I do it.

My last years of working in the real estate business are very flexible. I expect to work through December of 2021.  In two years, I’ll be 75, and I think a 43 year career is something to be grateful for, God willing.

In retrospect, I’ve done it all. I had a strong niche with land and new construction, and I focused on listings. Never did I use the word “burnout.” Even at the end, I’ll be calling the shots, and with good health, one is able to do that.

The day I shut down the laptop will be a day of happy tears. It’s been a great journey, and I hope it continues for the next 2 years.

Hi Barbara Todaro

So many agents and brokers are able to work into their 70s.  It is a wonderful career to be able to continue to work.  You have fulfilled all your goals and now are helping your team be more successful than ever.  There is so much to be thankful for.

Barbara, you have created a great way to keep your hand in real estate, yet not deal with the clients.   I hope to do the same when the time comes.

I love this post, Barbara.  I'm actually older than you by a few years.  If someone had told me back in 1981, when I first became licensed that I'd still be selling after age 65, I wouldn't have believed it.  Yet, I continued on for another 10 years beyond that.  I have learned to refer more clients to trusted associates, etc.  At some point, we are deserving of more time for golden pursuits.  I'm formulating a plan in my head.  I haven't got all the components solidified yet, but suspect before long now, they will be.

Hi Barbara... I have no doubt whatsoever that your next two years will be exactly what you want them to be in terms of your work life and your personal life.  What you've done that so many people never manage to do is figure out a vision and develop a clear path to it.

Yes, I'll say you have a clear vision AND a clear plan, Barbara! I don't know what we'll do without your lessons and generosity here though. I'm super happy for you but, will selfishly admit that I will miss your wisdom that you have so generously shared year after year.

Two more years of health and success will lead you into a wonderful, active retirement because you addressed that need, set a plan and achieved your health goals too. Thank you for always being an inspiration to so many, Barbara!
