Johnson City TN winter weather. It's going to be a cold one according to the wooley worms! (solid black, getting their winter coats ready). According to the farmers almanac, there will be a lot of snow and ice. The month of December looks to be pretty mild with temperatures staying right around an average of 50 degrees with the lows hanging around 30's until we get to the 26th where we have 3 days of COLD. (17-18 degree). January looks like there will be plenty of percipitation, followed closely by March. February looks like bone chilling cold. Which is pretty normal in these parts. February always seems like the coldest month of the year. The beauty of this area is that spring usually starts early for us. It is not unusual for us to have some warm spring like temperatures by mid March. (However, it is also not unusual to have one last good snow in March as well). So how much snow are we going to get? Well Storm Team 11 is predicting 16-18 inches in the Tri Cities. That is exciting! Oh, by the way, I do like snow.
So what does all this mean to you? Well, of course make sure your house is buckled up tight for the winter, you have back up heat, generator, candles. Be ready for the cold, black outs, just the normal winter warnings. It could be a easy winter, but better to be prepared. I always carry a bag full of extra socks, hats, mittens, blankets, granola bars and water in my car. It really is a gready thing to do. What are your plans? Be prepared Tri-Cities!
