Wow, 2019 went by quickly. At Bellingham Technical College we are still going strong with our professional level home inspector training courses.
The next class will be in 2020. Last year snow bogged us down in early February, so we are running the four week course a little later this year -- beginning on February 24, 2020. And it ends, both Fundamentals and Field Training, on March 20.
Dylan Chalk, Seattle and Bremerton area home inspector
State law requires inspection students to obtain at least 120 hours of 'fundamentals' training, and BTC is the only state college level course that offers substantially more credits (135 clock hours) than the bare minimum. Our students earn state college credits in addition to acquiring the training and certification necessary for state licensing,
We focus on the basics including structure, electric, plumbing, heating, etc. And in recent years, per state law requirements, our course includes information about swimming pools/spas, yard irrigation systems, and alternative methods of construction. The video that follows provides an accurate overview of the upcoming class in February 2020.
This fast-track training program takes a student from start to finish in four weeks (20 days). Classes meet, with the exception in those months with legal holidays, M-F from 8AM to 5PM.
After the course, our online practice tests help students prep for state exams. The BTC class, also, presents an overview of wood destroying organism education and WSDA licensing options. These are some of the reasons BTC students have an exceptionally high pass rate on the mandatory state exams. Anyone interested in taking the course should sign up as soon as possible. We keep the classes small, to augment personal instruction, and we accept only 12 students per course.
We receive many compliments from past students such as this example:
