 The Power Of Three...

The Power Of Three   A recent post by Rob D. Shepherd Hey Folks 3 Is A Crowd  started me pondering.  Not about disconnecting from electronics as Rob planned a winter getaway but  pondering once again...this time about the number three.

My comment on his post was practically a post I thought.   So I expanded the comment as I pondered:   there are those who say three is a crowd but there's also a group that will say - three's company or the more the merrier.  Then there is three little pigs. Some "threes" might not be the best traveling companions, right?  Or a three-piece suit - not a good idea for a winter getaway, I imagine.  Now three sheets to the wind might happen during some "time off" but yet another thing I wouldn't suggest.   It sounds as if you have found what works best for you.  And that is important.

So on this third day of December, I ponder threes.  Three of a kind.  And other things too. A short pondering path leads me to the world of numerology.  That numeral is quite important.  Significant too.  Creative Self-Expression.  Social Interaction.  Optimism.  Tolerance. That's what a quick online search led me regarding three.  Hey, I am not always the greatest at math --- but that looks like four things - not three...  Onward, upward.

The importance of "three" is well-known, utilized and advised in the world of staging and in design.  Plus we can see it in different aspects of life's experiences.  Good.  Better.  Best.  Choose One.  It appears that the noteworthiness of "3" goes beyond numerology, astrology and religion.  When you think of three...do you stop or do you proceed to four....some things are worth pondering and other things just are...  You see, for me, a comment can lead to a post.  It's not magical.  Just pondering...   It happens quite often.

Hi Michael Jacobs,

I will throw one more at you - the "rule of thirds" in photography.  You are right about a comment or post leading to another post.

Barbara Todaro - you know, for me, it's not necessarily what cards have been dealt but how I have played them.  In real estate and elsewhere.  I admit my card-playing skills are limited(to say the least).

Wayne Martin - nothing much happens while idling.

Sharon Lee - lots of television shows including Three's Company - My Three Sons and while not mentioned "three" specifically - many of us know Charlie's Angels....

Nina Hollander - as I wander, the pondering takes on a life of its own at times.

Maria Gilda Racelis - I have heard that too.  It's amazing what I can keep out of my mind when I don't need to think about it...

Lise Howe - and yet there's still so much more...

Brian England - I am a bit surprised to hear that, I would have thought you were the main spoke.  Roy Kelley - so many examples...

Kat Palmiotti - Three Dog Night -- is a trio better than a duo but less than a quartet?   I wonder...(but not before humming a few more songs...)

Ron and Alexandra Seigel - a strong design element along with so many things we experience in life.

Lawrence "Larry" & Sheila Agranoff. Cell: 631-805-4400 - I am familiar with the name of the movie but don't t recall ever seeing

it.

Jeffrey DiMuria 321.223.6253 Waves Realty - California has no shortage of scandals but it is difficult to compete with Florida at times.

Sheri Sperry - MCNE® - although it is best when I stay away from the camera, I am aware of the rules of threes in photography.

Lottie Kendall - I am glad to hear you enjoyed it.  There seems to be an endless source of thinking on so many subjects.  Why not threes?

Hi Michael- my uncle used to always say that things happen in 3's, so when you would hear of a celebrity passing, for example, and then another, it was like waiting for the shoe to drop for the third to pass away. Morbid, I know. But yes, I think of 3 when it comes to staging.

Kathy Streib - yes, I have also heard that about threes but chose to look at other examples.  The theory of threes is legendary.

I use the rule of threes in our landscape design much of the time...or one, or five - always - odd numbers. Ha.

And with three children, and not four, guess I felt the power of 3. And yesterday was my oldest grandaughter's 12th birthday - 12-3. I was pondering numbers yesterday too. How quickly she went from three to twelve.

Michael, usually bad news comes in 3's, as last month two of my listings decided to take their homes off-market and wait until the snow stops.....maybe May.  AND a buyer that I had UC, decided to terminate.   OK, that was 3....

Debb Janes EcoBroker and Bernie Stea JD - I have known that "odd" rule for a number of years.

Joan Cox - unfortunately you are experiencing that adage first hand.

Gwen Banta - of course.  I hope you are staying warm and keeping dry as we experience some rain today.  Be safe.

Michael - the number 3 comes up a lot in my life. I am child #3; my parents were too. One of these days, I would like to see what numerology says about me because the number 3 is always in my life!

Stagers say 3 is the perfect number. I could give more examples but I'm not going to take away your thunder and there will be enough comments on this one too.

Patricia Feager, MBA, CRS, GRI,MRP - the "prime" numbers certainly have a lot of meaning it seems and the references to "three" are abundant.  I am also one of three children but the eldest.  Birth order is but one of the many subjects that fascinates but brings forth so much speculation.  Talk about pondering material...
