Good morning!!
It is Thursday morning. November 28th. Just past 7 am…
I am in a quiet home in Roscoe, Illinois. My sister's home. A home filled with love…
With 8 kids and 6 adults occupying the home for this special day, every couch and bed is filled with someone sleeping…
It is a special day. It is Thanksgiving…
Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday. A day filled with food, with family, with football. And a day filled with thanks…
I woke a bit ago, in the dark and cool basement. My mind, honestly, wasn’t focused on gratitude…
My mind had thoughts of the challenges that I am facing. The type of challenges that we all face, every day, in our own way…
I caught myself worrying. Feeling anxiety. Realizing that it was a special holiday and my thoughts “shouldn’t” be going there just made that anxiety worse…
So I begin to pray…
Dear Lord.
I am so thankful that I have my two beautiful daughters with me here today.
I am thankful for my sister and her family.
I am thankful that my parents are both alive and here to share this day with me…
I am thankful for all of my friends who are celebrating this day in their homes with their families.
I am thankful for my health.
I am thankful for the air that I breathe.
I am thankful for the hot coffee that I am enjoying as I sit at this table.
I am thankful for this perfect fall day with which to celebrate this wonderful holiday…
I am thankful for my ability to write. To communicate. To connect with people…
I am thankful for those that read my writing. That get value from my story. That relate with me. That are inspired by my words…
I am thankful for those that watch my videos, especially the Saturday morning ones…
I am thankful for those that reach out to me every day to connect. To tell me how they feel my emotions in my writing and my words. To those that share their stories with me…
But most of all, I am thankful for this day…
For today is a day to give thanks. A day to put worries aside. A day to know you are not alone, even when you may feel you are. A day to be loved. And a day to love, for that is the greatest gift of all…
Amen.
Ken
