Our Thankful Board for Thanksgiving 2019
While being thankful for all that we have is a good thing all the time, Thanksgiving is a special time to think about all that we are grateful for.
Both our daughters, their husbands and the 4 grandkids, along with my 93-year-old Mom, were at our place for Thanksgiving. It was a wild a crazy time, with a ton of food, a huge amount of energy, and a lot of rain which kept everyone inside except for a brief walk in the rain for some, and play in the garage.
My wife thought it would be fun to have a gratitude (thankful) board and asked everyone to let us know, in advance, what they were thankful for.
The result was a physical reminder from everyone...in writing for all to see...of the many things we are all thankful for. Even the 2-year-old had a list. And everyone had the opportunity to post their list or to let the kids do it!
What was cool was the periodic discussion during the holiday, before, and still today, about being thankful, and asking the kids...what are you thankful for (family, of course, was a big one for many). I think it's especially important for the kids to be reminded about being grateful and the kinds of things that are meaningful to them - it's never too young to start learning and thinking about being thankful, right?!
Perhaps this will become our annual tradition!
This is my 4th entry for the ActiveRain November Gratitude Challenge.
