Saturday Smiles: Santa Barbara Farmers Market 11/30/19!

By

These beautiful wax bean combination certain had my attention this morning.  They stay true to color in cooking except for the burgundy/blue ones that turn darker.

This arrangement was a delight to our eyes, there is so much artistry among our farmers here!

This pink tinged cauliflower also had our attention.  It is another one of the many heirloom varieties.

Last but not least were these golden onions, they glowed in the sunshine before the clouds finish gathering...Rain is on the way!

Wishing you all an abundance of Saturday Smiles!  Cheers, Ron & Alexandra

Are there many people who show up to the Farmer's Markets? I'm so fascinated that it is a year-round event. Beautiful colors. Haven't seen the dark wax beans before.

Mimi Foster Enough show up for the farmers to keep coming every week.  We have a big Tuesday market in downtown.., then there is the Thursday one in our little village in the afternoon, a Friday one in Montecito a bit smaller than ours, and Saturday where all the chefs come, and Sunday in Goleta.  The overall population of these areas is over 100,000 people.  These same farmers travel down the coast to Santa Monica and other places.  A

I love the look of those amazing multi-colored beans, Alexandra.  I didn't make it out to our local market this morning.  There are still far too many Thanksgiving leftovers here at home.

Love the different colors of the wax  beans. I have had the yellow and green but not the purple.  That cabbage is very colorful. Never had that kind but  have seen it in the stores. Happy Saturday.

Morning Alexandra.

Our Farmer's Markets have all closed.  A few will start opening in the first week of April.  Care to take a guess on who will be one of the first through the door?

Oh, I love the arrangement with the celery and the red cabbage, Alexandra! I swear, I have sliced and diced SO much celery the past week! We served it with wings, alone and with dips - and used it in our stuffing and baked vegetable dishes. Did I say a LOT of slicing and dicing?!

Hi Ron and Alexandra Seigel,   I always love going with you to the Santa Barbara Farmers Market.  Although I do not need to be main chef today, the photos bring lots of memories and a sort of slight urge to go to the kitchen cupboards and getting out pots and pans...

Oh my!!  Love these photos!!  During this colder season, our farmer's market has the delicious aroma of coffee and fresh baked muffins in the air and the harvest bounty on display!
