Thanksgiving - a few days of celebration, contact and communication and communion (according to the dictionary) the sharing or exchanging of intimate thoughts and feelings, especially when the exchange is on a mental or spiritual level.
Each year, some or all our family usually get together at a member’s home to spend time with each other. It could be a breakfast, a lunch or evening dinner. This year was Noon to PM. Our Grandson made his favorite, a Strawberry Banana Smoothie that we a tried. Our other grandchildren were spending time in Kona on the big island.
We watched football while our daughter in law helped mom finish the delicacies, turkey, ham, purple potatoes, mashed, multiple baked goods and, of course, vegetables and salads.
This year, it was only 5 of us, but mom cooked enough for 25. They were able to take a load home to consume later.
I guess that’s the way it is with many American homes every year. Thank God that we are in an economy where we can celebrate with food and share with others.
Our son said that he thoroughly enjoyed this time together. We had a bountiful time sharing current events, news, our opinions and even discussions about sports, conspiracy theories, Area 51, Aliens, the new USA Space Fleet and politics.
They had to bring their babies, 2 dogs and a cat, which had to be gathered upon leaving. As they were headed to their car departing for home, we were STILL talking and said we would have pick it up at Christmas!
