My wife and my daughter along with myself went to the Smoky mountains for the Thanksgiving Holiday. One of the highlights for us is the annual trek to Cades Cove near Gatlinburg Tennessee to drive the long loop and see the bears, turkey, deer and elk. This trip was very different however.

We drove the many miles in single file with other cars and saw almost no wild animals. No bears, no deer and no elk. I did see 2 turkey. Since we were disappointed I suggested we drive to the nearby campground in hopes of maybe the wild animals went there. Right after we got into the camp ground we watched 3 deer browse through the leaves eating acorns. We drove on around that lane and saw a 6 pt.buck. Next we drove over on a different lane with campers and came upon a lone tent with a very nice shiny car parked nearby. The owner of both must have been gone because the biggest tom turkey I have ever seen was pecking at his reflection on the side of the car.You can see the car mirror in the picture.

My wife being concerned for the car got out of our car and started throwing pebbles at that turkey then asked me if she could have that big turkey. I reminded her that we were at a national park where killing animals was prohibited.

We then noticed 2 other Toms not 20 feet away who took note of what my wife was doing so they started walking toward my wife. The other turkey also started toward my wife and the chase was on. All three tried to get my wife.

She was screaming and I was laughing so I only got this one picture.

Morning Kathy.

I've seen those animals in action, nothing to mess with, you will get hurt.  Wish he had made a video of it

It's very interesting, but there have been several stories this Thanksgiving about aggressive turkeys.  Perhaps, they are listening to and taking on the political divide in this country. . .LOL

There was one story about a turkey that chases a mailman on his route.  And, this morning I heard another story about a turkey who chased a police officer while he was trying to ticket a motorist.  The motorist got off with a warning, which I'm certain he was thankful for.

Guffaws... the sight reminded me of my childhood experience ... being chased by my grandfather's turkey.
