Winter is here!! I was surprised to see approximately 4” of snow this morning. We dodged a bullet, so I thought!
I have motion sensitive outdoor lighting, so I was outside at 6:30am shoveling my double width driveway and two walkways.
I didn’t realize, until I lifted the first shovelful of heavy wet snow, that I was going to have the ultimate workout today.
It was a two hour session. I did 238 deadlifts with heavy wet snow in the shovel. I counted. I focused on what I was doing, so I would not be injured.
The routine was to bend at the knees; fill the shovel with heavy wet snow; stand up straight and hold it for 2 seconds; and throw it with a full upper body motion. My core was totally engaged, and I twisted at the waist…. 238 times.
I have never had such total body workout. This required by legs to stabilize my entire body as it twisted with that weight and thrown using my upper body and core.
Winter in New England is a great time to maintain strength and conditioning.
I’ll be sitting on my not so fat butt for the rest of the day! Tomorrow we are expected to have 3 or 4 more inches.
