Tuesday Thoughts & Treasures for December

Real Estate Agent with DFW FINE PROPERTIES 0506509

"It's not the beginning or the destination that counts.

It's the ride in between." ---David Baldacci

The month of December evokes nostalgia. It is easy to be reminded of family traditions and values. If you're lucky enough to attend year end celebrations it is the gathering of people who are there that counts. Many people will be traveling and some stay home for the holidays. Some see things as emotional; other things are fun. Regardless of where you are in life, it really is "the ride in between" that counts.

December is a good time for year-end review and plans for the new year. But no matter where you are in the spectrum of life always remember "it's the ride in between" that matters the most.

"It's not getting from A to B. It's not the beginning or the destination

that counts. It's the ride in between...this train is alive with things

that should be seen and heard. It's a living breathing something--

you just to want to learn its rhythm." ---David Baldacci

To get from A to B will most likely involve transportation. Moving around to get to your destination is a vital part of the plan. Patience and kindness will improve safety for all who travel. Where you're going and how you get there probably doesn't matter to others who are traveling. Regardless of who, when, where, why, or how you're going, when it comes to the most important thing in life, it truly is "the ride in between" that matters most.

Isn't it funny how things change over time and not just with trains, planes and automobiles? Technology and values change too. Just when I felt I could breathe safely when people quit smoking tobacco, I realize drinking and driving still occurs and now there is vapor and legalized marijuana in some parts of the country. Whatever your preference is don't concern me, but distractions and safely does. May you have a happy December. Respectfully, the point is when it comes safety:

"Two people can care for each other but not want the same things."

---David Baldacci

I realize that one makes their own bed to lie in but to often we get caught up in the minutia of life. For me, this is one of those times. I always appreciate reading your posts, they do help me. Thanks for doing so and how is the ICE working. Hope you are totally on the mend, cheers cvc

I think the majority of people get "caught up in the minutia of life." I'm glad to hear reading my writing helps. Writing is my self-expression.

It was amazing how quickly things improved with the ice. By yesterday afternoon I thought I was home free but last night I woke up from the pain. My first thought was "ice, ice, ice." Talking to you really helped. I decided, I'm going to keep applying the ice because Curtis Van Carter said so!

Thank you! I hope things are moving along as best as they can for you.

Hi Patricia,

I've always tried to enjoy the journey to wherever I was going, whether it be an accomplishment or a physical destination. However, sometimes the journey is tedious and we have to keep our eye on the prize, don't we?

One of the reasons I prefer to do road trips instead of hopping on a plane is the journey. So much is missed while 35,000 feet in the sky.

Thanks for the pondertunity of the day.

No matter where we began nor how we will end, the most important part of the journey is the quality with which we travel it ever day for as long as we live....

Hi Patricia... loved all the quotes you used in your post. Personally, I hate travelling so for me it's always the in between that counts.

I wish you a happy December! When we are traveling somewhere, it might take frequent reminders about the importance of the journey. Traffic, angry people, crowded seats, etc., sometimes makes it a little difficult to enjoy!

Patrica this concept is very important in our journey through life.  Far to often the focus is on reaching a goal, that we forget to enjoy the journey of accomplishing it.

Fantastic, thought-provoking post, Patricia. I love David Balducci's quote -

"Two people can care for each other but not want the same things."

I also enjoy traveling - and including the journey (which can mean more than just the simple physical journey too)! Towards the end, I begin to get excited and that's part of the 'fun' in the journey!

I saw Curtis Van Carter's comment about the ice - OMG, it saved me the past 3 weeks after taking a bad fall and fracturing several ribs. I absolutely never take pain meds and came very close to caving with this injury!

I made it through and it was definitely the ice that did the trick. You can't do a darned thing with broken (or even bruised) ribs - just wait out the pain and boy, is every breath excruciating!
