Wordless Wednesday...A Different Type of Snowbird

Larry and I were used to the influx of snowbirds when we lived in South Florida.  They would arrive sometime in late October or early November depending upon the weather back home and leave somewhere around Mother’s Day.

It seems that things are no different here in Houston. We noticed these snowbirds (geese) around the beginning of November hanging out at Kickerillo-Mischer Preserve where we walk.

What do you think Donald Urschalitz? Want to trade snowbirds??

Hi Kathy Streib great snowbird catch!  We see geese from time to time on the golf course and holy smokes they make a lot of noise at times!  Pretty fun to watch.

Good afternoon Kathy Streib - I wonder if they are Canadian Geese.  They leave a big mess.  We had them moved to another location at our park in Armonk.

Hi Kathy
We had scads of geese on our one acre lawn when we lived on the river. They were fun to watch but made a mess and did nothing to support the local economy.  LOL

Hello Kathy,  Last night news had a story on geese that we have to many in our parks and they are trying to move them south.

I had to look at that photo twice.  The scene looks nearly identical to one I often enjoy along the American River Parkway here in Sacramento, complete with the birds!

Those kind of snowbirds can create their own kind of problem.  Cute photo.

Michael Jacobs I think that there are special eye exams that are given to seniors in Florida...which explains why so many have passed their tests. Just a conjecture.

Wayne Martin those guys can be very messy!!!

Donald Urschalitz probably. Bet they're just as noisy.

Norma J. Elkins you know, I grew up in Houston and never saw a bluebird. Now we have them. Maybe I didn't notice them.

Beth Atalay I'm laughing because I'm very happy that I don't have to mess with that anymore!!!

Debb Janes EcoBroker and Bernie Stea JD  I remember in FL, we could always tell that the snowbirds were in town because you couldn't go out to dinner without a 45 minute wait.

Ron and Alexandra Seigel I've never heard of using swans or dogs but it does make sense. I remember we were somewhere and the geese had made a disgusting mess of the sidewalk.

Barbara Todaro would that be bottled Wild Turkey????

Morning Kathy.

We are getting a different kind of snowbird here.  We went eagle hunting yesterday, saw two.  I believe we are in for a hard winter
