SpaceX Falcon 9 launch SCRUBBED today - retry tomorrow

SpaceX will try again tomorrow, Thursday, December 5, 2019, to launch a Falcon 9 rocket from Cape Canaveral Air Force Station Launch Complex 40, Cape Canaveral, Florida.

While it was a beautiful day here on the Space Coast, upper level winds and rough seas at the drone ship landing area caused SpaceX to scrub the launch attempt.

SpaceX will try again tomorrow, Thursday, December 5th, to launch the Falcon 9.

Launch time is set for 12:29pm.

At this time, there is expected to be an 80% chance of good weather at launch time. About eight (8) minutes after liftoff, the first stage of the rocket will land on the Of Course I Still Love You drone ship offshore in the Atlantic Ocean.

We are having cooler weather here on Cocoa Beach with a high around 70* expected so don’t forget your sweatshirt or jacket. Plan to arrive early to miss the traffic and the crowds so you can find a great viewing spot.

Diana,

Space X also uses the facilities at Vanderberg Air Force base further up the coast.  We can sometimes see the launch by hanging out on the beach.  Friends who have made the effort have loved watching it.  Next time, we will be there.  A

Seems like these launches are becoming more routine. Elon Musk has certainly made space exciting again.

Alexandra,

Absolutely, go see it in person! Everyone should see a launch up close and personal in their lifetime...it's a great bucket list item. You won't be disappointed!

Lisa, The shuttle program ended about ten years ago...these launches are unmanned rockets, part of the return to manned spaceflight program. Diana

Debe,

The launches are becoming more frequent but not necessarily routine.

These launches are part of the return to manned spaceflight endeavor that SpaceX, NASA and Boeing have been working on.

NASA wants to stop relying on Russian Soyuz rockets to send our astronauts to the ISS. They have been doing that since 2011 when the shuttle program ended and it costs $70 million PER SEAT.

They are hoping to launch a crewed mission in 2020 if all goes well which is why there is so much focus on launches here.

It's history in the making!

Endre, You are a little behind on things :)). This was the December launch and it finally took off.

There was a launch this past Monday that was flawless...took off right on schedule and it was a night launch so spectacular to see. It was postponed from last Friday due to cloudy weather and high winds so I missed posting about that launch...the timing was just too uncertain.  Diana
