Facebook Messenger Warning

By
Real Estate Broker/Owner with House to Home, Inc. - Denver Real Estate - 720-231-6373 DRE# ER40011786

Today I was ringing the bell for Salvation Army, and one of my friends came by and said she got hacked once again, and one of her friends said Messenger sent out more than 300 messages to her.

I know I get notices that someone sent me a message (or an attachment) through Messenger, but I deleted mine a long time ago.  Every time I hear someone was hacked - it was through Messenger.

Be careful!

I was hacked on messenger, too, Joan. It's really obvious when you get a pre-scripted message, but sometimes it's more subtle. I only respond to a message I have initiated, and I am careful not to open attachments.

Gwen Banta I am thinking LOTS of people have been hacked that way.   I never opened an attachment, even from someone I knew, unless they let me know ahead of time.  Sorry to hear you were hacked!

Hi Joan... I delete links, video, graphics sent via messenger. I would not even dare open it. Great reminder!

Maria Gilda Racelis before I deleted my account, I never opened those attachments, videos, etc. either.   I never did get hacked, thankfully.

Michael, and think --- did they really mean to send this?   SO true.

Appreciate the warning, Joan... fortunately, I have't had to deal with this on my Messenger account (yet).

Recently, a group of friends starting sharing a little sparkling wreath through messenger. I keep getting it, but won't re-send it - and that's what the intent is in the message.

Bad guys and bad bots are everywhere. Last night's national TV news was talking about people getting new "smart TV's" and how the hackers are spying on us via the TV in our own house. Also, the reason I won't have a voice-activated device (they are listening) in my house.

Dena Stevens Coriz OH MY, I do have a smart TV, so hope they are not spying!   I have never wanted a voice-activated device either, and know those are really easy to hack.

I'm with you Joan Cox.  I didn't put messenger on my new phone.  Seems like more hacking and spam than legitimate messages.

I hate Facebook.  I refuse to put Messenger on my phone.  I just don't trust them.
