Throwback Thursday: Historic Property in Napa Valley

In Mid-November, we were in the Napa Valley on a business trip.  On a break we visited the Rhine House and the estate pictured above. The property, the gardens its caves, the winery and the Hudson House have a Historic District Designation on the National Register of Historic Places.  The Beringer estate is a wonderful example of Napa Valley history..  It is the longest operating winery in the Napa Valley.  

The 17 room home was completed in 1884.  The cost to build was $28,000, which included 40 panels of stained glass. Here is an example of 3 of the many panels. Whether you drink wine or not, this estate is well worth the visit.

Gorgeous. My niche/specialty is Victorian homes. The stained glass we find in some of them is breathtaking. One house I sold downtown cost $7,800 to build in 1891. The stained glass (a gift from the owner's rich brother) cost $9,300. Thanks for sharing this!

Lottie Kendall if you like cab, I would recommend you trip their reserve cab...it is amazing.  I also recommend the chocolate almond croissant at Bouchon and we stayed almost behind there at Le Petit Logis... R&D kitchen was great for lunch, one the best shrimp louis Ron had, and I had the ahi salad...A
