Lucky To Live In Houlton Maine, A Canadian Border Town.

Real Estate Agent with MOOERS REALTY ME Broker License 106759

The perks being a Canadian border town when you live in Houlton Maine.

The list is long and the destinations for the two nation vacation is a tall one. But still the question comes up a lot. Out of state Maine real estate buyers ask over and over. Is it dangerous being parked so close, very near Canada? How would you ever get to Prince Edward Island, over to Halifax Nova Scotia or up and over to Quebec City Canada without a port of entry in Maine?

Read more on aritcle of advantages being a Maine border town like Houlton Maine with a stronger dollar than the Canadian Loonie.

It is a big perk being a Maine border town with Canada.

With all the lower cost vacation options this close to home in Houlton Maine. And for buying something not available locally that is a bargain "over home" as the locals connected to Canadian DNA call it. Living in a Maine small town, we travel back and forth into Canada. The flow coming this way from the other side in the land of the red maple leaf just as strong.

The folks in Houlton Maine are at least 30% Canadian bloodlines if you study the heritage between this state, the New Brunswick or Quebec provinces.

Neighbors with Canada, I dont' see a problem.  And besides, now that Prince Harry and Megan are calling the country home, you're hobnobbing with the home of the rich and famous. Lol. Although, doubt that would be a big draw from those who love the simple and laid-back lifestyle in Maine.

Andrew Mooers | 207.532.6573 - From the moment I arrived in Maine that first time in June 1987, I fell in love with the landscape, the people, the coast, food, and the drives through many rural Maine towns with their many NE Church Steeples. For years, I subscribed to Yankee Magazine - great stories there too! Your blog posts remind me of all that is GOOD in America, especially Maine. Many mothers dream of taking their kids to Disneyland - not me, I chose Maine! My kids fell in love with it too and spent more years there than me going to summer camp, I followed the link you shared about sharing borders. It was all, very interesting! Have you thought about writing a revision to that wonderful article? Your photos and storytelling are superb!
